Casey McCoy, MPH, RDN, CD
Registered Dietitian Nutritionist
Hi, I’m Casey
(she/her)
I am a masters level registered dietitian specializing in eating disorders, chronic dieting, and health management through a weight inclusive lens.
I am an expert in eating disorder treatment with several years of experience working in a pediatric setting. I specialize in adolescents with eating disorders, but I also love working with folks of all ages who have struggled with chronic dieting or disordered eating. The most rewarding part of my job is witnessing clients find liberation from the diet mentality and heal their relationships with food.
When I’m not working, you can find me romping around the Pacific Northwest with my partner and two dogs or crafting while watching reality tv.
Areas of Expertise:
-
I work with adults, young adults, and teens 13+ with eating disorder diagnoses including:
Anorexia Nervosa
Bulimia Nervosa
Binge Eating Disorder
Orthorexia
Other specified feeding/eating disorder (OSFED)
-
What is family based treatment?
FBT is considered the gold standard treatment option for teens with eating disorders. In the first phase of FBT, parents manage eating with support from an interdisciplinary team led by an FBT therapist. As a member of your FBT team, I will work with parents to help your child refeed so that they can heal their bodies, learn nutrition skills, and regain independence with food.
-
Disordered eating is characterized by a variety of symptoms and behaviors including:
chronic dieting
dysregulated eating patterns
binge eating
excessive hunger or cravings
eliminating foods or food groups
obsessing or thinking about food
feeling out of control around food
desire to alter body shape/size by changing eating
obsession with “healthy” foods
-
What is intuitive eating?
Intuitive eating is an attuned form of self care where eating is joyful, peaceful, satisfying, and supportive of a full and healthy life. I will help you ditch the diet mentality and find a way of eating that meets all of your needs, physically and emotionally.
-
I am a HAES® aligned dietitian who acknowledges the systemic fatphobia of the society we live in. I don’t think anyone should need to change their body to fit in to society, and I support your autonomy to decide what’s best for your body. I hope to work with you to meet your goals while feeling empowered and liberated to live your truth.

My Philosophy and Approach
The weight loss industry is a multi billion dollar market that has been profiting off of our insecurities for centuries. We live in a culture that values thinness and makes it feel impossible to fit in when we don’t meet the mainstream beauty standard or “ideal” body type. This is reinforced by systemic weight bias that limits access to physical spaces for folx in larger bodies and makes harmful assumptions based on body size alone. In addition, fatphobia often intersects with other forms of oppression such as racism, ableism, classism, and transphobia which results in substandard care and poor health outcomes for those in marginalized groups.
As a result, many of us spend a majority of our lives dieting to no avail, constantly weight cycling, and finding ourselves more and more desperate to find the key to success. Some engage in dangerous and disordered behaviors that put their health at risk, all while being praised for shrinking themselves to fit the mold. The reality is that diets don’t work, and this experience is all too common. If the diet industry were so effective, it would be bankrupt and we’d all look the same.
In my practice, I take a different approach to health. Together we will focus on your eating patterns and behaviors independent of your body size and shape. We will work on strategies to improve your relationship with food, ditch dieting, and foster unconditional care and acceptance for your body. In our work together, I commit to respecting your bodily autonomy and personal boundaries at all times. I acknowledge that everyone has different backgrounds, values, and beliefs that shape their relationship with food and bodies. I strive to balance evidence-based care with each individual’s lived experience to establish a compassionate, safe, and client-centered alliance.
Your body is not a problem.
